Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sarfaraz Khan ignored once again by BCCI selectors for upcoming test against England at home. Mumbai-based batsman Sarfaraz Khan once again showcased his exceptional skills in a recent two-day practice match against England Lions, playing for India A. Despite his impressive knock of 96 runs off 110 balls, which included 11 boundaries and a six, Sarfaraz found himself omitted from India’s squad for the first two Tests against England. This exclusion comes despite his consistent stellar performances in domestic cricket, leaving fans eagerly awaiting his international debut.
In the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy campaign, Sarfaraz amassed 556 runs in six games at an impressive average of 92.66, securing three centuries. His remarkable form continued from the previous season, where he scored 982 runs at an astonishing average of 122.75. In First-Class cricket overall, Sarfaraz maintains an impressive average of 69.6.
Notably, in a December intra-squad practice match in Pretoria, the 26-year-old batter made headlines by scoring a century off just 63 balls, showcasing his prowess against formidable opponents such as Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana.
In the recent practice match against England Lions, Sarfaraz contributed significantly to India A’s dominating performance. After bundling out England Lions for 233, with Manav Suthar taking three wickets, India A’s response saw Rajat Patidar scoring 111 and Sarfaraz adding 96 runs. At tea, India’s score stood at 411/6. Other notable contributions came from wicketkeeper-batters KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, scoring 64 and 50 runs, respectively.
While Jurel earned his maiden international call-up in the senior team squad announcement for the first two Tests against England, Sarfaraz Khan’s exclusion continues to perplex fans. The upcoming five-match Test series is set to commence on January 25 in Hyderabad, shaping up to be an exciting contest between India and England.
Sunil Gavaskar slammed the National Selector on Television as Sarfaraz Khan ignored once again by them despite his tremendous performance in Ranji Trophy session.
Akash Chopra also expresses his dissatisfaction as Sarfaraz Khan ignored once again by the National selector. He asked the selectors what else he can do to get selected?
“Dhruv Jurel hasn’t played a lot of first-class cricket. He has played 15 matches only and scored a total of 790 runs in 19 innings. Of course, there is a highest score of nearly 250. 46.50 is not a bad average. He has scored one century and five fifties,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“If you see it that way, you will say is that enough to be called for Test cricket? If this is enough, what should Sarfaraz do? What more can he do? Have we decided that Ishan Kishan won’t be considered until he goes back to first-class cricket and scores runs?”
Another unlucky Cricketer is Abhimanyu Easwaran. He was selected in the Indian squad against South Africa, He was also in the Indian Squad for the series against Bangladesh. He was there with the Indian test team squad for some time but never got an opportunity to play a single match. And now without getting any opportunity he is axed against the home test series against England.
India’s squad for the first two Tests includes captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeepers KL Rahul, KS Bharat, and Dhruv Jurel, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, and Avesh Khan.
